Nadine Saylor
Nadine Saylor was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania and currently lives in
Carterville, IL. She received her BFA in Photography from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and her MFA in Glass from Alfred University. After graduating 2007 from Alfred, Nadine was asked to stay on and teach blowing and casting classes. Since then, she has taught at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and at Harrisburg Area Community College in Pennsylvania prior to accepting the position here at Southern Illinois University where she is currently a Lecturer in Glass. In addition to teaching at the collegiate level, she has taught many workshops including "Harbourfront Centre" in Toronto, "The Studio" at the Corning Museum of Glass and Penland School of Crafts. Nadine has won many awards for her work including"Glass Artist of the Yea" in Cincinnati, and was a finalist for the"Niche Awar" in Philadelphia. She has also lectured internationally and at many universities nationally. She was an Artist-In-Residence at the Pittsburgh Glass Center in Pittsburgh, PA where she was a part of "Breaking Through: Moving Forward" in the Hodge Gallery with three other women artists in 2014. In her work, she investigates the rise and fall of our country’s economy while preserving its history in the permanent material of glass. objects become a recollection of the past, bringing to attention how much we have changed as human beings and how much technology has transformed our lives. |
