After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Glass from the University of Illinois in 2000 Jeff spent six years in production studios from Santa Fe to the Hill Country of Texas. While developing his refined skill set and clean sense of design Jeff supplemented his formal education by taking classes at the Pilchuck Glass School, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and the Pittsburgh Glass Center. In 2006 Jeff left his position as Head Designer and Gaffer at a successful production studio in Wimberley,Texas to focus on his own career. Jeff re-located to the Pacific Northwest where he owns and operates Jeff Ballard Glass. Jeff utilizes the abundance of local hot glass studios in the area to create the glass portion of his work while completing the fabrication and all other mixed media aspects of his art at his home studio in Eugene, Oregon. Along with teaching at the University of Oregon Craft Center Jeff has taught, lectured, and/or exhibited Internationally in Turkey, Germany, Finland, Czech Republic and South Korea. In 2012 Jeff received the prestigious US Arts Envoy grant to travel to Berlin, Germany and developed a glass blowing program for underprivileged youth at Berlin Glase.V.
