Stained glass glazier Emily Selvin seeks to reveal the beauty of glass to harness natural light. Emily has designed and fabricated projects nationwide for private residences, restaurants, businesses as well as ecclesiastical settings. Since 1999 her company, Selvin Glass has completed hundreds of commissions and restorations. Home and Garden Television Productions produced a video on Emily focusing on her unique marriage of old world aesthetics with the desires of her contemporary clients. Emily's family has a long history rich in fine art, music and writing. Her parents collected antique glass and Emily is sure that seeing the beauty of glass harnessing the sunlight every day as a child is what has influenced her artistic path to work in stained glass. Her grandfather Ben Selvin, big band leader received three gold records from RCA Victor for his music and her father was a jazz musician, journalist and editor. Emily's educational background is diverse. Emily studied textile technology engineering. Her studies brought her to Italy, England and France. This is where she realized she had a passion for the arts and immersed herself studying botanical painting, silk weaving and silk manufacturing. Eventually her passion for art led her to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
